Point of Care Testing

Healthcare Connection's Point of Care or emergency testing kits provide a quick response solution to your drug and alcohol screening needs. The easily identifiable box will also serve as a deterrant if displayed in a clearly visible position within your workplace. 

Immediate Response

Point of Care kits can be used to give you an immediate result as to the presence or absence of substances in urine. A sample is collected and securely tested for a panel of substances. This panel can consist of our standard substances or be tailor-made for your particular needs. In the event of a positive screen, the sample can be sent under chain of custody to our secure laboratories for further analysis and confirmation of drug type and levels present. Full chain of custody screening can also be used for negative tests where it is desirable to confirm the absence of subsances in the sample or to test for additional drugs.

Point of Care kits are of particular use in for cause screening, remote locations or in other circumstances where an immediate response is required. For more information on the range of substances screened for in our standard screen, click here.

A Visible Deterrant

The presence of a highly visible drugs and alcohol screening kit box in the workplace or in schools and colleges, has been shown to be a highly effective deterrant against drug and alcohol abuse. Healthcare Connections can supply you with a box containing sufficient equipment to enable you perform ten onsite drug and alcohol screenings.

The testing kits will provide you with an immediate result indicating either the presence or absence of a panel of substances. The kits also contain the means to allow you to send any specimens on for further laboratory analysis, as required. The box is labelled by us to act as a highly visible deterrent and should be clearly displayed.

It is our recommendation that these boxes are used only by suitably experienced personnel such as the school nurse or an onsite person with responsibility for health and safety. Full instructions for use, and policy development, are included.

This type of solution is not recommended for regular or safety critical workplace screening.
