Each year in the UK alone, over 150 million working days are lost due to seasonal infuenza. As a result of this sickness absence, profitability is affected by an estimated £6.75 billion per year. Influenza or ‘flu is an extremely contagious disease and a single carrier of the virus can infect their colleagues very quickly. It is estimated that each infected adult will spread the virus to a further 4 people. It is predicted that in any given winter season between 3 and 18 million people in the UK will become infected with the influenza virus. Vaccination is an inexpensive preventative method of avoiding increased sickness absence levels among your workforce.
