HCC helps you to format your policies and internal procedures, and then to apply an entire operating programme for roll out to your employees. We always recommend the urine analysis method of drug & alcohol screening as the best option for optimum testing due to reliability of results, secure procedures that can be adhered to and the accuracy in substance level and substance identification. However, we also offer point of care testing services (gives a simplified instant result) on request. Our drug & alcohol specimen collection service includes the fast-tracking of your results by HCC, via the UKAS accredited laboratory, at no extra cost! emergency 'for cause' screening
railway medicals
Having a ‘for cause’ service in place means that you have retained a professional provider to perform emergency drug & alcohol screenings as required, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For cause services are valuable for any industry, but they are absolutely essential for any business that has a proportion of its staff performing safety critical duties. Did you know? Having an active for cause service in place and ready to use, in the event that it is needed, is a requirement of the Achilles Link-Up Audit process, for the rail supplier qualification scheme.

Borne out of numerous requests for a faster service from our clients, HCC’s premium service has gone from strength to strength since 2007, achieving high praise from service users due to the excellent turnaround time and the workforce downtime savings that are made. random & unannounced screening
The new standard has been issued by Constructing Better Health.
Unannounced and random drug & alcohol screening of your workforce can provide a business with an easy and fair way to monitor employees for the use of banned substances whilst at work. This is an excellent deterrent for employees in any industry, but of particular importance if your employees are performing ‘safety critical’ duties in the workplace.
Unannounced screening allows for the whole workforce to be screened for drugs & alcohol, without prior notice being given to them. The HCC service includes onsite attendance, professional specimen collections and reporting of results. If you wish to opt for this kind of programme HCC can also help you to format your drug & alcohol screening policy in line with unannounced screening methods. HCC operate a zero tolerance policy for our own employees, who are regularly screened on an ‘unannounced’ basis. Random drug & alcohol screening of the workforce means that only a percentage of employees are chosen, at random, for screening on an unannounced day. The HCC service includes the random selection of employees from a complete list, professional specimen collection and reporting of results. HCC recommends that random screening takes place more frequently than unannounced screening of the entire workforce. Random screening is also required to meet GE/RT 8070 Railway Group Standards.
pre-employment & periodic
emergency testing kits
This service supplies screening to work in line with your recruitment process and your ongoing health checking requirements for your workforce. Pre-employment screening is used by many of our clients to establish candidate suitability prior to finalising appointments. HCC can attend onsite to you to perform quick and easy screenings, for example when you have a recruitment open day, or individuals can attend one of our medical rooms nationwide. This service includes the quick turnaround to get all certificates to you as soon as possible, so that your recruitment process is not delayed. Negative results are usually available within one working day (after receipt at laboratory).
HCC’s quick solution to your drug & alcohol screening needs, particularly useful in remote locations and when you want a visible deterrent for your employees or pupils. We can supply you with a box containing all you will need to perform 10 onsite drug & alcohol screenings (gives an immediate result), as well as the means to send specimens on for further laboratory analysis, as required. The box is labelled by HCC to act as a highly visible deterrent and should be clearly displayed. HCC recommend that these boxes are used by persons such as the school nurse or an onsite person responsible for health & safety. Full instructions for use, and policy development, are included. Not recommended for workplace screening Please call the HCC Sales Department to find out if this method of screening is suitable for your industry.
